Teacher and student learning

Students are involved in an investigative approach to maths tasks in addition to the explicit teaching of concepts. They are set open ended tasks where they apply the four mathematical proficiencies of understanding, fluency, problem-solving and reasoning to arrive at solutions. 

All classes follow the Wagaman’ numeracy hour’ which provides consistency across the school. This means each lesson includes a warm up, explicit teaching, guided practice, independent practice and reflection.

Our students also have access to the online program, Mathletics. Tasks are aligned to the Australian curriculum whilst catering for the specific needs of students.
