We empower students to lead, influence and contribute to our school community.

Students in our primary years are given a range of meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills and take an active role in school life.
Year 6 students are invited to nominate for School Captain, while Year 5 students may nominate for Vice-School Captain. Candidates submit a written application and participate in an interview with the school’s leadership team.
Students in Years 5 and 6 may also nominate for House Captain positions. House Captains lead our sporting teams, Sharks and Crocs, during whole-school events and carnivals, demonstrating teamwork, responsibility and school spirit.
Our student leadership structure also includes the Learning Commission. Learning Commissioners represent the ‘student voice’ within our school by contributing to decision-making about teaching, learning and school improvement. At Wagaman Primary School, we value student voice because it empowers students to take ownership of their learning and helps create a positive climate for learning across the school.
Students from Years 3 to 6 additionally have the opportunity to nominate for our Student Representative Council (SRC). Two students from each class are elected by their peers to represent their class, organise social events and support fundraising initiatives.
